Adélaïde Feriot (Libourne, France, 1985) lives in Paris and works on sculpture, painting and performance.
She is graduated in Fine Art from École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon and Birmingham School of Art, in Textile Design from ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres, and she trained in theater at the Atelier Fanny Vallon in Paris for two years. She took part in diverse personnal and collective exhibitions in France and internationaly : Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Centre Pompidou MAM (Paris), Bally Foundation (Lugano), Fondation pernod Ricard (Paris), Fondation Thalie (Bruxelles), Artopia Gallery (Milano), Kunstwerk Carlshütte (Budelsdorf), La Virreina (Barcelone), Maison des arts de Laval (Quebec), Tabacalera (Madrid), CAFA art museum (Pekin).
Adélaïde Feriot’s work begins with an impossible attempt : to hold on to what slips away. A light before it changes,
a gesture before it ends, a landscape before it transforms, a loved one.
Through sculpture and large-scale paintings on fabric, she gives form to these fragile moments. Bodies stretch, dissolve into colour and matter, and become landscapes. Her works create spaces in which time seems to slow down, suspended between appearance and disappearance.
At a time when everything can be photographed, recorded and archived, her work turns instead towards what cannot be preserved : a changing light, a transforming body, a lived moment.
Adélaïde Feriot does not seek to stop this movement. She creates spaces in which, for a moment, we can pay attention to what is still here.
